xLCH.Clearnet - the World’s leading independent clearing house – are now recruiting graduates for their 2013 graduate programme.
Clearing houses, or central counterparties (CCPs), facilitate trading and increase market confidence by assuming the counterparty risk when two organisations trade. This means we ensure the financial performance of the trade. If one of the parties fails; the clearing house steps in and honours the trade.
LCH.Clearnet serves a whole variety of international exchanges and platforms, and we also clear many over-the-counter (OTC) asset classes. We are, for example, the world’s number 1 CCP in OTC FX and interest rate swaps, number 2 in fixed income and repo and number 3 in futures and options.
AN EDUCATION IN 10 WEEKS
Our 2013 internship programme runs from 24 June to 30 August – that’s 10 weeks to gain a real insight into how the global financial markets operate. The best way to do that is by being given meaningful work to do, so we’ll make sure you’ll be getting involved in real projects and adding genuine value to your team wherever you can. And because LCH.Clearnet stands in the middle of every trade we clear, you get a broader exposure to how the markets work in their entirety than you might with other financial organisations.
WE TAKE YOUR INTERNSHIP AS SERIOUSLY AS YOU DO
You’re probably aware that many organisations consider internships to be one of the best ways to identify and recruit talented young graduates. We certainly do. So we’ll be watching your progress closely, and we’ll assign you a “buddy” to help you find your way around and get as much out of your internship as possible. Then, at the end of the programme, we’ll be offering successful interns a place on our full-time 18-month graduate development programme.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOU
We’re happy to consider undergraduates studying the full range of academic disciplines because we’re a broad-based organisation with a wide number of different roles. Some require high levels of numeracy, but others place more demands on personal qualities like team-working, communication skills and problem solving. Typically, we’d expect you to be in your penultimate year of study and we look for a high standard of academic achievement and a genuine interest in the global markets. Other qualities we value highly are enthusiasm, an entrepreneurial mindset, the confidence to interact with people at all levels and a willingness to question conventional thinking.
