The EIB, the European Union’s financial institution, is seeking to recruit for Risk Management Directorate (RM) - Financial and Operational Risks Department - ALM and Financial Risk Division at its headquarters in Luxembourg a: Financial Risk Management Officer

The successful candidate will contribute to the optimisation of the liquidity, funding and lending functions of the Bank through the elaboration and implementation of policies in a specific domain of financial risk (e.g. ALM, interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk) as well as through the monitoring, management and reporting on related risk exposures in order to minimise risk and achieve set return targets for the Bank in the framework of the EIB objectives.


Responsibilities

• Participate in elaborating and documenting ALM policies by keeping up-to-date with market best practice and translating it into documented methodologies
• Define, refine and update financial risk measurements, enhancing the current reporting system and introducing further indicators, as required
• Identify and help implement new management information and market risk management systems by increasing the use of existing IT tools (mainly, but not limited to, Algorithmics), and by proposing new, more refined, risk indicators
• Contribute to ALM by measuring, analysing and reporting on the financial risks and contributions generated by new activities through the internal transfer price system and the commonly used methodologies (VaR, bpv etc.)
• Contribute to the maintenance and update of the Financial Risk and ALM Policy Guidelines and related procedures and methodologies
• Control compliance with approved procedures and policies
• Advise and formulate independent opinions on operations/proposals embedding financial risks
• Ensure back-up of reporting tasks in the other areas of activity of the Division


Qualifications

• University degree, preferably in economics, finance and/or mathematics
• Post-graduate studies in these areas would be an advantage
Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in Finance (ALM, Risk Management, Capital Markets, Treasury)
• Very good knowledge of quantitative and modelling tools (e.g. yield curve modelling, VaR methodology, transfer pricing systems, capital allocation models)
• Understanding of IFRS accounting principles would be an advantage
• Excellent knowledge of English or French and a good command of the other language. Knowledge of other European Union languages would be an advantage
