Product Control is one of the primary support functions of Credit Suisse and employs approximately 700 people worldwide. As such, it is a driving force in the Finance, Administration and Operations (FA&O) Division.
The department is responsible for understanding and controlling the trading business by substantiating the completeness, accuracy and validity of all business related corporate data that is used by Financial Control, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Collateral Management, trading and marketing. This will include completion of reconciled daily P&L, Balance Sheet, MIS for senior management and sales credits.

With increasing transactional volumes, the control, analysis and reporting services that Product Control provides will be central to the business achieving its aims. Product Control is responsible for setting and delivering an ambitious change agenda over the next 2 – 3 years.
Product Control is a global organisation with a strong emphasis on regional lines. Businesses supported include Credit, Rates, Emerging Markets, Equities, Investment Banking and Treasury. In addition there is a central COO function and reporting functions embedded in the line areas.
Position Description:
Overview of the Credit Suisse Fund Linked Products group
Credit Suisse's Fund Linked Products (FLP) group is an established market leader in the provision of complex structured products linked predominantly to hedge fund and mutual fund assets. The FLP business is closely aligned to, and shares many of the features of, the Equity Derivatives group. Products have traditionally allowed investors to assume exposure to underlying funds, modified by the risk characteristics of the delivery vehicle. More recently the group has entered the financing business, providing collateralised leverage to third party hedge funds of funds.
Credit Suisse is a recognised market leader in the Fund Linked Derivatives business, and recently won the Derivatives Week prize for Fund Linked House of the year 2007. The in house developed Credit Suisse/Tremont Investable Index is widely viewed as an industry benchmark and frequently quoted by the international business media to provide a backdrop to the performance of hedge funds and other “alternative” investments.
The FLP group has seen considerable growth in the last few years and this is projected to continue, despite recent market conditions. As part of this ongoing growth, Product Control is seeking an AVP or junior VP to assist in the management of the daily line product control function.
Assisting in the management of the Product Control line function for Fund Linked Products including; Primary duties will include: Management of daily line P&L production process, Price testing – agreeing methodology, performance, interpretation of results and sign off with front office, Reserving – assisting in setting of policy and ensuring compliance by the business, Resource planning, setting priorities, daily staff management issues. The successful candidate will also be required to constantly identify and implement process improvement.
Additionally the successful candidate would be expected to drive change management across FLP and business wide where appropriate. The candidate will also be responsible for structured trade reviews.
This role will involve a high degree of liaison with FLP front office, middle office, new transaction group and operations.
Skills
Experience / qualifications:
The successful candidate will have an accounting qualification or equivalent work experience. It will be important for this candidate to have a strong understanding of exotic derivatives and would be beneficial to have fund linked or structured equity derivatives knowledge.
It will be expected on any candidate coming into this role to have good problem solving abilities, an appetite to learn and excellent communication skills.
